Kia has showcased a camouflage wrap for the upcoming Kia Tasman, the brand’s first ute.
Although sparse details have been released on the Kia Tasman Ute, coming in 2025, Kia Australia has big ambitions for the Ute; hoping to capture 10% of the Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) market.
The wrap was created in cooperation with artist Richard Boyd-Dunlop, who resides in Australia and New Zealand. The design, called ‘The Path Never Taken’, aims to represent the theme of exploration.
Inspired by the natural environments of Australia, the camouflage design incorporates visual elements reflective of Boyd-Dunlop’s travels in Australia, including coastal and outback experiences.
Karim Habib, Executive Vice President and Head of Kia Global Design, explained, “Our Tasman pickup truck embodies Kia’s commitment to design and innovation, as well as its spirit of adventure... [this design] depicts a journey and reflects an essence of adventure that is unique to the Tasman."
The design theme, ‘The Path Never Taken’, aligns with the adventurous appeal of the Kia Tasman, which is intended to attract customers interested in a vehicle that offers both reliability and performance.
“This design resonates as it evokes my own personal experiences travelling across Australia and the encounters that I had,” said Boyd-Dunlop.
The camouflage design incorporates vibrant reds and deep blues to capture Australian landscapes and cultural elements, anticipating the Tasman’s market debut in 2025. This marks Kia’s initial foray into the Light Commercial Vehicle category, with planned availability in Korea, Australia, Africa, and the Middle East.
