Kia Set to Introduce EV3, Expanding Its Electric Vehicle Range

Kia Set to Introduce EV3, Expanding Its Electric Vehicle Range

Kia has announced the upcoming release of the EV3, a new compact electric SUV, scheduled for an official unveiling on May 23.

This model will be added to Kia's existing line of electric vehicles, which includes the EV5 and EV9.

Prior to its launch, Kia has released teasers of the EV3, showcasing design elements consistent with the company's established "Opposites United" design theme.

The EV3, which serves as a smaller alternative within Kia’s electric vehicle lineup, resembles the dimensions of the Seltos rather than the Sportage.

It is anticipated that the production model will closely align with the previously showcased Concept EV3.

The vehicle is expected to be equipped with nickel cobalt manganese (NCM) and lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery options, aiming to offer a balance of range and cost-efficiency.

Specifications for the platform of the EV3 have not been disclosed, but indications suggest it will be smaller than the EV5, which measures 4615mm in length.

The EV3 is poised to be among the more compact models in Kia’s electric vehicle offerings.

Despite its smaller size, the vehicle will not necessarily include more potent motors or larger batteries than those found in the EV5.

Kia also hints at the future introduction of a 'GT' version, as part of its strategy to expand high-performance electric models.

The EV3 is set to commence international sales in the latter part of 2024, with specific launch dates for the Australian market still pending.

Production will take place at multiple global locations, including Kia’s facility in Slovakia.
