No, John Deere Isn’t Making A Pick-Up

The rise of misinformation and fake videos online has increased dramatically since artificial intelligence (AI) became more accessible.

Several videos have been posted to YouTube claiming John Deere – a US company famous for its tractors and agricultural machinery – is entering the commercial vehicle market with a new pick-up.

In some cases, these videos have amassed almost half a million views – despite using AI-generated images and quoting entirely fake specifications.

However, given the recent return of the Scout brand – originally created by John Deere competitor, International Harvester – as well as the trust and popularity of the John Deere brand in regional North America, we decided to go directly to the source.

“We are not manufacturing a passenger vehicle or pick-up truck,” a spokesperson for John Deere told CarSauce.

“Thanks for letting us provide you [with] accurate information.”

While a commercial pick-up doesn’t appear to be a priority for the company, John Deere could be one of the few brands which could make a big impact in the pick-up market – given its resources and legions of fans.

Let us know what you think in the comments sectio below. Should John Deere develop a pick-up?
