2024 Nissan Qashqai Price and Specs: New e-Power Hybrid Joins Australian Line-Up

Nissan is set to expand its e-POWER lineup in Australia with the introduction of the Nissan Qashqai e-POWER. The vehicle, which will be built in 2023, is expected to hit the Australian market in the first quarter of 2024.

The flagship Ti grade of the Qashqai will be equipped with Nissan's e-POWER technology, offering a fresh powertrain option in the small SUV segment. This move follows the success of the X-Trail e-POWER and the online reservation program for the Nissan Z NISMO.

Starting November 2nd, 2023, potential buyers can reserve the Qashqai e-POWER online at nissan.com.au. The online reservation system will collaborate with Nissan's dealership network, allowing customers to select their preferred dealer for delivery.

Adam Paterson, Nissan Australia Managing Director, expressed enthusiasm about the expansion, noting the Qashqai e-POWER's ability to provide a seamless driving experience without the need for recharging.

2024 Model Grades and Pricing:

  • NISSAN QASHQAI ST - $33,890
  • NISSAN QASHQAI ST+ - $37,890
  • NISSAN QASHQAI ST-L - $42,190
  • NISSAN QASHQAI Ti - $47,390
  • NISSAN QASHQAI e-POWER Ti - $51,590

The Qashqai's e-POWER system is a combination of a high-output battery and a 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbo-charged petrol engine. The engine's variable compression capability allows it to adjust performance and economy based on engine load.

Total outputs for the regular Qashqai with a are 110kW and 250Nm from a 1.3 litre 4-cylinder turbo petrol engine. That is front-wheel drive, and uses the Nissan Xtronic CVT transmission.

Conversely, the Qashqai e-Power has a combined output of 140kW of power and 330Nm of torque through a single electric motor on the front axle.

Unlike the parallel hybrid found in the Toyota RAV4, where the engine and electric drive system are connected to the wheels, the Qashqai e-Power uses a series hybrid system, where the engine is used as a power generator for the battery and totally disconnected from the wheels.

The e-POWER system ensures a connected driving experience, with the "Linear Tune" feature ensuring engine speed aligns with road speed. The e-Pedal Step offers a one-pedal driving experience.
