Chery is set to expand its Omoda lineup with the unveiling of the Omoda 7 at the upcoming Beijing Auto Show. This new model, which sits above the Omoda 5 in the lineup, will be presented to the public on April 28.
The Omoda 7 is larger than the Omoda 5 and features a design evolution that includes a clamshell bonnet, an upswept window line, glazed D-pillars, and a contrasting black roof. Design elements such as sharp headlights, wraparound taillights, and flush pull-up door handles are also incorporated into the vehicle. Additionally, the front grille displays a hexagonal pattern and includes unique lighting designs on the bumper corners.
Performance specifications for the Omoda 7 suggest it will employ a multilink rear suspension, differing from the torsion beam in the Omoda 5. It is expected to be equipped with a 1.6-litreturbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 175kW of power and 275 Nm of torque, paired with a seven-speed wet dual-clutch transmission. These features suggest that the Omoda 7 could be positioned as an alternative to Chery's Tiggo 7 Pro in global markets starting next year.
The Omoda 7’s debut will coincide with that of the all-electric E5 model, which is anticipated to reach Australian showrooms in the latter part of 2024.
