The Mahindra XUV 3XO could be the next model released in Australia by the Indian car giant.
CarSauce has unearthed a trademark filing for the XUV 3XO name locally, with Mahindra potentially looking to offer the small SUV as a value alternative to the Toyota Yaris Cross, Mazda CX-3, Hyundai Venue, and Kia Stonic.
On sale in its home market since April 2024, the XUV 3XO is actually based on the same platform as the KGM SsangYong Tivoli, and comes with a choice of two 1.2-litre turbo-petrol three-cylinder engines or a 1.5-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder.
The 1.2-litre puts out between 82 and 96kW, with torque of between 200 and 230Nm, while the turbo-diesel puts out 86kW and 300Nm.
However, as the XUV 3XO has yet to be confirmed for Australia, it’s unlikely all three engines are offered locally.
In India, the petrol engines are available with the choice of a six-speed manual or an Aisin-sourced six-speed torque-converter automatic transmission, while the diesel gets an automatic manual transmission – similar to those found on Volkswagen products, but using a single clutch instead of dual clutches.

Inside, the driver gets a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, while the seven-speaker Harman Kardon sound system is run through the 10.25-inch infotainment screen, which features wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and 360-degree cameras.

There’s also a synthetic leather interior, wireless smartphone charger, dual climate control, and a large panoramic sunroof.
Ignoring freight to Australia and other fees, the 3XO can be purchased in its home country for up to AU$28,500.

It’s likely the XUV 3XO would be brought to Australia in a relatively high specification, offering buyers a lot more features than its mainstream competitors – but for less money.
Given the recent trademark filing, it’s possible we could hear about the Mahindra XUV 3XO joining the Australian market within a matter of months, however the company is remaining tight-lipped for now.
