Toyota's RAV4 SUV achieved a record 5,933 sales in July, surpassing its previous record of 5,857 units set two months prior. This sales milestone reinforces the RAV4's popularity in the Australian market.
Toyota also set a new monthly record with 12,686 hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) sales across all models. This marks the second time Toyota has sold over 10,000 hybrids in a month, with hybrids making up 55.9% of the 22,705 total sales for July.
Of the RAV4 sales, 93.4% were hybrids, making the RAV4 Hybrid the best-selling vehicle for the month. The hybrid-only range also saw significant sales for the Camry (94.5%), Corolla sedan and hatch (96%), Corolla Cross (99.4%), and Kluger (86.6%).
Toyota's hybrid sales outpaced the next-best performing brand by nearly 50%, demonstrating the strong demand for hybrid technology. Including the bZ4X Battery Electric SUV and Mirai fuel-cell electric sedan, Toyota's share of electrified vehicle sales rose to 56.3%.
Other top performers for July included the HiLux (4,747), Corolla hatch and sedan (2,658), Kluger (1,705), and Camry (1,498), contributing to Toyota's 22.8% market share. Toyota Australia's Vice President of Sales, Marketing, and Franchise Operations, Sean Hanley, credited the dealership network and production teams for the successful sales performance.
"Achieving a hybrid sales record for the second time this year shows just how much our customers value our fuel-saving technology, and it's a testament to our dealer network who have been working around the clock to get vehicles delivered to customers," Hanley said. "With supply levels stabilizing, we've also seen how popular the RAV4 is with Australians, who appreciate the amenity, signature reliability, and powertrain smoothness that our best-selling SUV offers."
