The Chery Tiggo 4 Pro brings Chinese value to Australian roads, offering an enticing mix of technology, safety, and practicality at a budget-friendly price. Chery calls it the best value SUV in Australia, and I would largely agree.

Starting from just $23,990 drive-away for the Urban variant and topping out at $26,990 for the feature-packed Ultimate trim, it positions itself as one of the most affordable SUVs in its segment.

As part of our CarSauce Buy secret shopping car buying series, I purchased the Chery Tiggo 4 Pro Ultimate for just $26,490, delivered to my door within three days of my first inquiry.

Chery has clearly focused on delivering maximum bang for your buck. LED headlights, a 360-degree camera (on Ultimate trims), and adaptive cruise control are just a few of the standout inclusions.

With a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine under the bonnet and a surprisingly refined cabin, the Tiggo 4 Pro aims to deliver more than expected in its price bracket.

But how does it stack up in the real world? I’ve now lived with my Tiggo 4 Pro to bring you a detailed review covering its design, features, and performance.

Let’s get into it.

How much does the Chery Tiggo 4 Pro cost?

The 2025 Chery Tiggo 4 Pro is available in two trims, starting at a very attractive $23,990 drive-away for the Urban trim and $26,990 drive-away for the fully equipped Ultimate trim. Premium paint options, which is every paint other than Martian Red, cost an additional $500.

Through CarSauce Buy, I purchased the Ultimate trim for just $26,490 drive-away, saving $500 off the listed price. If I waited for a new build, I could have paid just $25,880.

I opted for a low kilometer demo though so I could get you this review early.

What’s the exterior like of the Chery Tiggo 4 Pro?

The 2025 Chery Tiggo 4 Pro aims to strike a balance between practicality and style, presenting a design that’s both modern and functional. Its compact dimensions—4,351mm in length—make it ideal for navigating urban streets and squeezing into tight parking spots, while its design elements add some personality to its price-conscious appeal.

At the front, the bold diamond-pattern grille catches the eye, complemented by sharp LED headlights and sequential indicators. The LED daytime running lights enhance its modern look, while subtle aerodynamic touches hint at efficiency-focused engineering. The lower bumper, with contrasting finishes, adds a bit of rugged character.

From the side, the Tiggo 4 Pro’s proportions are evident. Short overhangs and wheels pushed toward the corners not only make it easier to park but also improve stability. The Ultimate trim’s 18-inch alloy wheels, featuring red accents and matching brake calipers, add a sporty touch. However, the Giti tyres may not inspire the same confidence in all driving conditions. Roof rails add practical appeal, but the lack of privacy glass across the range could be a missed opportunity for a more premium look.

Moving to the rear, opinions might vary. The tailgate opens high and wide, making it easy to load cargo into the 380-litre boot space, but halogen turn signals and exposed mounting brackets for slimline plates detract slightly from the overall finish. Despite this, the Tiggo 4 Pro’s rear remains functional, with design elements focused on practicality over aesthetics.

While it may not turn every head on the road, the Tiggo 4 Pro’s exterior design reflects its mission: offering features and usability that align with its competitive price.

What’s the interior like of the Chery Tiggo 4 Pro?

The interior of the Chery Tiggo 4 Pro is a standout feature for this budget-friendly SUV, offering an impressive mix of technology and practicality that punches well above its price.

At the heart of the cabin are three screens, which are standard across the range. The 10.25-inch infotainment display is crisp and responsive, featuring wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for seamless smartphone integration.

Beneath this, a climate control panel provides a sleek way to view and adjust airconditioning settings, while physical temperature and fan speed controls for both driver and passenger allow for quick changing of the dual-zone climate.

Directly in front of the driver is another 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster that displays all the key information clearly and can change themes for a more personalised touch.

The cabin materials are well thought out for the price point. Soft-touch finishes feature prominently across high-contact areas, adding a sense of refinement, while harder plastics are tucked away in less noticeable spots.

The Ultimate trim adds a touch of flair with synthetic leather seats, which are heated for both front passengers and power-adjustable for the driver. It’s a nice upgrade that enhances comfort, especially for longer trips.

Storage is smartly designed throughout the cabin. The glovebox is decently sized and opens softly, there’s a generous centre console storage bin, and the door bins are surprisingly large for this class of vehicle.

Up front, you sadly wont find a wireless phone charger but two USB-A ports and 12v socket are present, ensuring passengers can keep their devices charged on the go.

Even the cupholders are thoughtfully designed, with one of them able to adapt to taller items like umbrellas or larger drink bottles.

The steering wheel feels solid in the hands, wrapped in faux leather, with all the key controls within easy reach. Adaptive cruise control and media buttons are conveniently placed, making it straightforward to adjust settings while driving.

There is the dreaded driver monitoring system, though it’s subtle and doesn’t intrude much into the driving experience. It’s been well tuned since it was first introduced with the Chery Omoda 5 almost 2 years ago now.

One unique inclusion is the safety hammer, a tool designed to break windows or cut seatbelts in emergencies. Although unnecessary now, Chery is future proofing for updated ANCAP requirements in 2025.

Sound insulation is reasonable, keeping the cabin quiet in most urban conditions, though some noise does creep in at highway speeds.

Overall, the Tiggo 4 Pro’s interior is functional, modern, and surprisingly well-equipped for its segment. It’s a cabin that delivers a lot of value, particularly for those prioritising technology and comfort in a compact SUV.

What about back seats?

The rear seats in the Chery Tiggo 4 Pro are spacious and practical for a compact SUV. Passengers benefit from ample legroom, headroom, and a flat floor design, making it comfortable even for three across the back. The synthetic leather upholstery in the Ultimate trim adds a premium touch, while soft-touch panels on the doors enhance comfort.

Amenities include a single rear air vent, a USB-A charging port, map pockets, and a fold-down armrest with cupholders. Storage is sufficient, with door bins that fit water bottles and clever child safety alerts using sensors to warn of oncoming traffic when opening doors.

While two rear air vents would improve airflow, the back seats remain well-designed, offering comfort and practicality for both daily drives and longer journeys.

What’s boot space like in the Chery Tiggo 4 Pro?

The Chery Tiggo 4 Pro delivers a surprisingly practical boot setup for a compact SUV in this price range. With 380 litres of space, it aligns well with competitors and proves suitable for everyday errands or light travel. The low loading lip and wide aperture make loading and unloading straightforward, even for bulkier items.

Fold the 60/40 split rear seats, and the space expands to an impressive 1,227 litres, accommodating larger loads or adventure gear with ease. While the absence of a flat floor when the seats are folded could have added further versatility, the available space remains highly functional.

Practical touches include grocery hooks and tie-down points, catering to varied storage needs. Beneath the boot floor, there’s a space-saver spare wheel, although some exposed wiring underneath hints at cost efficiencies rather than premium refinement.

What’s under the bonnet of the 2025 Chery Tiggo 4 Pro?

The 2025 Chery Tiggo 4 Pro is powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine.

This engine generates 108kW of power and 210Nm of torque, which is slightly above class average.

The Tiggo 4 Pro's engine is paired with an automatic continuously variable transmission (CVT), a system designed to optimise fuel efficiency and provide seamless power delivery.

The Tiggo 4 Pro is front-wheel drive only.

How does the Chery Tiggo 4 Pro Drive?

The Chery Tiggo 4 Pro delivers a driving experience tailored for practicality and everyday usability, with a focus on comfort and ease of operation. It may not reinvent the wheel, but it performs adequately for its price bracket and target audience.

Under the bonnet, the 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine produces 108kW and 210Nm, which is sufficient for urban commutes and highway cruising. While not particularly sporty, the engine provides a steady flow of power that’s well-matched to the vehicle’s size and weight. However, those seeking brisk acceleration or sporty performance might find it lacking.

The engine is paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT), which is tuned for smoothness and fuel efficiency. As with most CVTs, there’s a “rubber band” effect under hard acceleration, where engine revs rise disproportionately to actual speed. In normal driving, however, the CVT operates quietly and seamlessly, delivering an unobtrusive experience.

Steering is one of the Tiggo 4 Pro’s strengths in urban settings, but very light for anything too enthusiastic. It’s light, direct, and well-suited for navigating tight streets and parking lots. While it lacks the feedback and heft of more performance-oriented systems, it feels appropriate for this class of vehicle and ensures an easy and hassle-free driving experience.

The suspension setup leans towards comfort, absorbing bumps and imperfections well on city roads. It does, however, allow for some noticeable body roll during sharper cornering or sudden lane changes, a common trade-off in vehicles tuned for ride comfort. While the Tiggo 4 Pro handles confidently within urban environments, it’s less inspiring on twistier or more challenging roads.

Factory-fitted Giti tyres are adequate for everyday use but are a clear compromise to keep costs down. In dry conditions, they perform acceptably, but their grip diminishes significantly in wet weather, reducing confidence. Drivers planning to cover more demanding conditions or seeking improved safety margins may consider upgrading to higher-quality tyres.

A highlight of the driving experience is the inclusion of advanced driver assistance systems, particularly on the Ultimate trim. Adaptive cruise control is effective, maintaining set distances in traffic and easing long highway journeys. Lane-keeping assist is also included, and while functional, it lacks the refinement seen in more premium vehicles. The system occasionally feels hesitant when tracking lane markings, though it generally enhances safety and convenience.

Visibility from the driver’s seat is commendable thanks to the Tiggo 4 Pro’s compact dimensions and large glass areas. Parking is simplified further by features like the 360-degree camera and light steering. These attributes make the vehicle particularly well-suited for city driving, where tight spaces and frequent manoeuvring are common.

It must be mentioned that fuel economy is only adequate. Although Chery claims 7.3L/100km, I have been achieving 8.1L/100km during my time with it.

Overall, the Chery Tiggo 4 Pro offers a driving experience that prioritises practicality, comfort, and ease of use. While it doesn’t deliver thrills or cutting-edge dynamics, it competently fulfils the needs of budget-conscious buyers looking for a comfortable and user-friendly compact SUV.

Final thoughts on the Chery Tiggo 4 Pro

Do I regret buying my Chery Tiggo 4 Pro? Honestly, no. While it’s not without its quirks, this compact SUV delivers impressive value for the price. From the generous feature set and modern technology to the surprisingly refined interior, the Tiggo 4 Pro punches well above its weight in many areas.

Its affordability is a key highlight, with a starting price that undercuts many competitors in the segment. Even the top-spec Ultimate trim, which I purchased for $26,490 through CarSauce Buy, offers a lot of features typically reserved for more expensive vehicles.

The Tiggo 4 Pro doesn’t excel in every aspect. The driving experience is competent but unremarkable, and some elements, like the rear design and certain materials, remind you of its budget-friendly positioning. However, the practicality, thoughtful technology integration, and competitive warranty make up for these shortcomings.

For buyers looking for a cost-effective, well-equipped SUV that handles daily life with ease, the Chery Tiggo 4 Pro is a compelling option. While it may not appeal to those seeking dynamic performance or premium finishes, it stands out as an affordable and sensible choice in the ever-crowded compact SUV market.

Would I recommend it? If your priorities align with its strengths—value, practicality, and comfort—then the Chery Tiggo 4 Pro is definitely worth considering.
