BYD has expanded the 2026 ATTO 2 range in Australia with two DM-i plug-in hybrid variants, priced from $24,990 before on-road costs.

The new ATTO 2 Essential DM-i and ATTO 2 Premium DM-i sit below the established ATTO 2 Dynamic EV and ATTO 2 Premium EV in the small SUV line-up.

BYD says the ATTO 2 DM-i is the most affordable plug-in hybrid available in Australia.

The plug-in hybrid variants join the range of the battery-electric ATTO 2, which starts from $31,990 before on-road costs.

Both ATTO 2 DM-i variants are front-wheel drive and use BYD’s Dual Mode 4.0 Super Hybrid system.

The system combines a 72kW 1.5-litre petrol engine with a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor.

The Essential DM-i produces a combined 122kW and 300Nm, while the Premium DM-i increases combined power to 156kW and keeps the same 300Nm torque figure.

The Essential uses a 7.85kWh LFP Blade battery and has a WLTP electric driving range of 39km.

The Premium uses a larger 18.03kWh LFP Blade battery and has a WLTP electric driving range of 90km.

Combined WLTP range is listed at 845km for the Essential and 895km for the Premium.

Fuel consumption above 25 per cent state of charge is listed at 1.8L/100km for the Essential and 0.70L/100km for the Premium.

Energy consumption is listed at 14.70kWh/100km for the Essential and 15.00kWh/100km for the Premium on the WLTP cycle.

Both variants use a 3.3kW AC charging system, with a 15 to 100 per cent charge taking 2.7 hours in the Essential and 6.1 hours in the Premium.

The hybrid system can operate in pure-electric mode, series hybrid mode or parallel hybrid mode, with switching handled automatically.

All ATTO 2 grades measure 4330mm long, 1830mm wide and 1675mm high, with a 2620mm wheelbase.

Cargo capacity is listed at 425 litres with the rear seats in place and 1335 litres with the 60:40 split-fold rear seatbacks lowered.

Standard safety equipment across the ATTO 2 family includes autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot detection, forward and rear collision warning, lane departure assist, hill descent control and a 360-degree camera.

Premium grade adds equipment including a panoramic sunroof, roof rails, 17-inch alloy wheels, a larger 12.8-inch touchscreen, synthetic leather seats, heated front seats, ambient lighting, a six-speaker sound system, a 50W wireless phone charger and 3kW vehicle-to-load capability.

All BYD vehicles sold in Australia are covered by a six-year, 150,000km vehicle warranty, an eight-year, 160,000km high-voltage traction battery warranty and an eight-year, 150,000km drive unit warranty.

Scheduled service pricing for the DM-i variants is listed as free at 3500km or 0.1 years, then $270, $490, $270, $930 and $270 at 20,000km or yearly intervals through 100,000km.
