Mercedes-Benz Australia has confirmed local pricing and specifications for the new-generation CLA, with the compact sedan range to start from $66,500 before on-road costs.

The 2026 Mercedes-Benz CLA line-up will include five variants across hybrid and battery-electric powertrains.

Three 48-volt hybrid models will be offered, comprising the CLA 180, CLA 200 and CLA 220 4MATIC.

Two electric models will also be available, comprising the CLA 200 electric and CLA 350 4MATIC electric.

The new CLA is based on a modular platform designed to support both electrified petrol and battery-electric drivetrains.

It also debuts Mercedes-Benz Operating System, or MB.OS, which supports over-the-air updates and AI-based voice control using ChatGPT, Google Gemini and Bing technologies.

Mercedes-Benz says the new CLA has a drag coefficient of 0.21cd, with the exterior design focused on aerodynamic efficiency.

Hybrid versions use a traditional grille with a chrome Mercedes-Benz star pattern, while electric versions feature an illuminated grille with 142 LED star elements.

Inside, all variants receive a fixed panoramic glass roof, heated front seats, ambient lighting, front wireless phone charging and facial recognition.

All variants also receive a Parking package with a 360-degree camera, PARKTRONIC and Parking Assist.

Mercedes-Benz describes the MBUX Superscreen as a central part of the cabin technology, combining a 10.25-inch driver display with a 14-inch central touchscreen and an optional 14-inch passenger display behind one glass surface.

However, the same local material also lists MBUX Superscreen as part of the optional Premium Package on selected variants, so buyers should confirm final grade availability with a Mercedes-Benz retailer.

The CLA 200, CLA 220 4MATIC and CLA 350 4MATIC electric include AMG Line features such as sports seats, a multifunction sports steering wheel, AMG floor mats, light carbon-grain aluminium trim and AMG bodystyling.

The CLA 180 and CLA 200 hybrids use a 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with a 48-volt lithium-ion battery and an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Mercedes-Benz says the hybrid system can recover up to 25kW of energy and can drive on electric power alone at urban speeds when less than 20kW is required.

The CLA 180 and CLA 200 are front-wheel drive, while the CLA 220 4MATIC adds all-wheel drive.

The electric CLA models use an 800-volt architecture and can charge at up to 320kW DC where compatible infrastructure is available.

Australian electric CLA models also include a DC converter, allowing them to use 400-volt chargers.

The CLA 200 electric is rear-wheel drive, while the CLA 350 4MATIC electric adds an 80kW front-axle motor for all-wheel drive.

Mercedes-Benz says the CLA 350 4MATIC electric can decouple the front electric motor under low load to reduce front-axle losses by up to 90 per cent.

A centre airbag is standard across the new CLA range.

Mercedes-Benz says the electric CLA achieved a five-star Euro NCAP result in 2025, but no Australian ANCAP rating has been listed in the supplied material.

The new CLA range will be available to order online and through Australian Mercedes-Benz dealerships in the coming weeks.

Mercedes-Benz Australia lists the following prices as MRLP, excluding on-road costs and dealer delivery.

MRLP includes GST and any Luxury Car Tax applicable to the base or standard specification model.
