MG Motor Australia has launched the 2026 MG MGS6 EV, a new electric mid-sized SUV priced from $49,990 driveaway.

The range opens with the MGS6 EV Essence RWD and is joined by a dual-motor MGS6 EV Essence AWD priced from $56,990 driveaway.

Both prices include on-road costs.

The new model sits above MG’s smaller electric SUV offerings and arrives as the brand continues to expand its local EV line-up.

The MGS6 EV will enter a growing electric SUV segment that includes the 2026 BYD Sealion 7, 2026 Tesla Model Y and 2026 Geely EX5.

For context, the 2026 BYD Sealion 7 Premium RWD has been priced at $54,990 before on-road costs, while the 2026 Tesla Model Y RWD has been priced at $58,900 before on-road costs.

The 2026 Geely EX5 Inspire Extended Range has been listed at $45,990 before on-road costs.

MG says the MGS6 EV Essence RWD produces 180kW from a single rear motor and can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 7.3 seconds.

The MGS6 EV Essence AWD uses a dual-motor layout producing a combined 266kW and is claimed to reach 100km/h in 5.1 seconds.

Claimed WLTP driving range is 530km for the Essence RWD and 485km for the Essence AWD.

Both variants support 10 to 80 per cent DC rapid charging in 38 minutes at 144kW when using a 150kW DC charger.

MG also lists a heat pump, One Pedal Mode and adjustable regenerative braking across the range.

Towing capacity is rated at 750kg unbraked and 1500kg braked.

The MGS6 EV measures 4708mm long, 1912mm wide and 1664mm high.

Suspension comprises MacPherson struts at the front and a multi-link rear setup, with 20-inch alloy wheels standard.

Boot capacity is listed at 581 litres, expanding to 1690 litres with the rear seats folded.

The rear-wheel-drive model adds an 86-litre front boot, while the all-wheel-drive model has a 67-litre front boot.

Inside, MG lists a 12.8-inch HD touchscreen, a 10.25-inch digital driver display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 50W wireless phone charger, voice control and connected services via the iSmart companion app.

Other listed equipment includes an 11-speaker sound system with subwoofer, heated and ventilated vegan-leather front seats with suede upholstery, heated outer rear seats, ambient lighting and available head-up display.

Safety equipment listed by MG includes Active Emergency Braking, Lane Departure Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control, a 360-degree camera and Blind Spot Detection.

The MGS6 EV also includes MG Pilot Custom, which MG says allows drivers to save preferred safety system settings.

An ANCAP safety rating has not been supplied in MG’s launch material.

Every MGS6 EV is covered by a seven-year unlimited-kilometre warranty.

MG also says owners can unlock up to 10 years or 250,000km of cover through its Service Activated Extended Warranty program.

Exterior colour choices comprise Dover White as standard, with Stratford Gold, Black Pearl, Camden Grey, Piccadilly Blue, Sterling Silver and Diamond Red also offered.

Interior options are Grey Ivory with Nordic Ashwood-style trim or Dark with Carbon Fibre-style trim.

The MGS6 EV is available from MG dealerships in Australia from 25 May 2026.
