The incoming model follows earlier updates to the current T-Roc range, which remains priced from $38,990 before on-road costs in CityLife form.
Mild-hybrid power for the first time
Volkswagen Australia has confirmed the new T-Roc will use mild-hybrid powertrains locally, although exact engine outputs and fuel consumption figures remain to be detailed.
In Europe, the new T-Roc launched with a 48-volt 1.5-litre turbo-petrol mild-hybrid eTSI powertrain in 85kW and 110kW outputs, both paired with front-wheel drive and a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Volkswagen has also flagged a 150kW 2.0-litre eTSI with 4MOTION all-wheel drive overseas, along with a full hybrid and a future T-Roc R.
Those European figures are not confirmed for Australia.
Bigger, sharper and more high-tech
Overseas, the new T-Roc measures 4373mm long, rides on a 2629mm wheelbase and offers 475 litres of boot space with the rear seats up, expanding to 1350 litres with the rear seats folded.
Volkswagen Australia has only confirmed the local model will offer more space and practicality than the outgoing T-Roc.
Piergiorgio Minto, Brand Director of Volkswagen Passenger Vehicles, said the all-new T-Roc builds on a proven success story for the brand while further elevating Volkswagen's compact SUV offering.
"Our Volkswagen T-Roc has become one of Volkswagen Australia's most successful and popular models, resonating strongly with customers looking for a compact SUV with genuine character, style and everyday versatility," Mr Minto said.
"The all-new generation builds on the qualities that have made the T-Roc such a success in Australia, while delivering meaningful advances in design, technology, comfort, safety and efficiency."
"We're delighted to confirm the all-new T-Roc for Australia and look forward to sharing more details with customers and media closer to launch."
