The first Ferrari electric car has a name. Dubbed the Luce – Italian for ‘light’ or ‘illumination’ – its 736kW quad-motor powertrain has already been detailed and now the interior has been revealed ahead of the car’s full unveiling in May 2026.

Ferrari has taken the opportunity to rip up the rule book with its first EV, not just in terms of its propulsion system but also design, partnering with the LoveFrom collective, founded by former Apple lead designer Sir Jony Ive and Australian industrial designer Marc Newson.  

LoveFrom has collaborated with Ferrari’s Styling Centre, headed by Flavio Manzoni, on the exterior and interior styling of the Luce and the latter at least is a serious departure for the brand.

In many ways, the Luce’s main driving environment is a modern interpretation of classic Ferraris from the 1960s and ’70s, with a thin-rimmed, narrow-spoke steering wheel reminiscent of the iconic wooden Nardi wheel but milled from 100 per cent recycled aluminium.

As well as housing an indicator button on each spoke, it carries a pair of pods, the left side handling the cruise control, powertrain mode and active safety systems, while the right controls the chassis setting, wipers and active suspension.

Behind the steering wheel, an ultra-thin Samsung OLED panel has a trio of round openings to reveal gauges designed to mimic Veglia and Jaeger instruments from the 1950s and ’60s and display speed, power usage, battery capacity and g-force among others.

One of Ferrari’s priorities was “defying the convention that electric cars must be dominated by large touchscreens”.  

Arguably the most unusual feature of the Luce’s interior is the infotainment screen mounted on a ball-and-socket joint that allows it to be swiveled to face the driver or passenger.  

A multigraph in the top-right corner can display an analogue-style clock, chronograph, compass and launch control.

Many components, including the key, instrument display, infotainment face and shifter, are sculpted from scratch-resistant Corning Gorilla Glass.  

LoveFrom took inspiration from aviation, including helicopters in particular, with not just the display graphics but the physical switchgear, with toggles for the seating and cabin climate, gear selector and overhead panel that controls the lights, demisting and activates the launch control.

The final piece of the Luce puzzle, the exterior design, will be revealed in May 2026 ahead of its launch later in the year.
