Lepas Australia has confirmed initial local specifications for the L6 EV, the first model from Chery Group’s new brand to launch in Australia.

The mid-size electric SUV is scheduled to arrive locally in October 2026, following earlier confirmation of the L6 for Australia.

The L6 EV will be built on Lepas’s intelligent LEX platform, a dedicated architecture developed to support battery-electric and plug-in hybrid powertrains across different vehicle sizes.

Australian models will use a 65kWh LFP battery and a front-mounted electric motor producing 160kW and 275Nm.

Lepas claims a WLTP driving range of 440km, with energy consumption rated at 17.5kWh/100km.

DC fast charging is claimed to take the battery from 30 to 80 per cent in around 22 minutes.

Lucas Harris, Chief Operating Officer, Lepas Australia, said the L6 would introduce the brand locally.

"The L6 represents an exciting new chapter for our business and marks the arrival of Lepas in Australia," said Mr Harris.

"LEPAS has been developed around the concept of ‘Bold by nature’ - bringing together sophisticated design and colours, intelligent technology and advanced electrification in a way that is relevant to the everyday needs of Australian customers."

"The L6 is an important first step for the brand, offering a compelling combination of style, technology, comfort and EV performance in one of Australia’s most competitive vehicle segments."

Equipment confirmed for Australia

Inside, the L6 EV will feature an 8.88-inch LCD digital driver display and a 13.2-inch LCD infotainment touchscreen.

Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto will be standard, alongside a "Hello LEPAS" voice command system, an eight-speaker Sony sound system and a 50W wireless phone charger.

Other confirmed cabin features include heated and ventilated front seats, synthetic leather upholstery, selectable ambient lighting and a panoramic sunroof with slide and tilt function plus a powered sunshade.

Exterior equipment includes LED lighting, a panoramic glass roof, puddle lights and a powered tailgate.

The driver-assistance list includes seven airbags, adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, lane departure prevention, a 360-degree Around View Monitor, Automatic Parking Assist and Remote Parking Assist.

Lepas says the 360-degree camera system can show distance information and alerts for low-speed manoeuvring, while Automatic Parking Assist can steer the vehicle into reverse, parallel and perpendicular parking spaces with limited driver input.

The L6 EV will make its first Australian public appearance at Everything Electric at Sydney Olympic Park from 18 to 20 September.

Pricing and final local details will be announced closer to the October launch.
