McLaren has announced the McL 820, its next series supercar, ahead of its arrival in 2027.

The McL 820 name introduces a new naming structure for the brand and reflects the car's 820PS power output.

To mark the announcement, McLaren unveiled a kiwi bird statue in central London wrapped in camouflage carrying the new name.

McLaren describes the kiwi, first used by Bruce McLaren, as a defining part of its heritage.

The new naming structure combines the McL prefix, inspired by McLaren’s motorsport heritage, with a performance-driven numerical identifier.

In the case of the McL 820, the number refers to the vehicle's 820PS output.

McLaren says the naming convention is intended to create a clearer and more consistent approach across McLaren Automotive and Racing.
