Jeep has updated its Compass model for the Australian market to include only hybrid powertrains, eliminating traditional petrol and diesel options.

The revised lineup, which is set to be available from June, features both mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants, with starting prices at $45,990 before on-road costs.

The transition to a hybrid-only range has led to a discontinuation of petrol and diesel engines, in line with Jeep's shift towards more environmentally conscious offerings.

The change also includes a shift in production from India to Italy, affecting the vehicle's pricing and configuration.

The 2024 Jeep Compass is now offered in two trim levels: Limited and Summit, both available in e-Hybrid and 4xe configurations.

The e-Hybrid model combines a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine with a 48V mild-hybrid system, producing 96kW of power and 240Nm of torque.

For those seeking all-wheel drive, the 4xe plug-in hybrid incorporates a 132kW/270Nm 1.3-litre turbocharged engine with a 44kW/250Nm electric motor, achieving a combined power output of 176kW.

The 4xe model can travel up to 47.3km on electric power alone and offers a fuel consumption rate of 2.1L/100km.

The e-Hybrid is capable of operating in electric-only mode at low speeds, such as during heavy traffic or in parking scenarios.

The 4xe version includes additional driving modes, catering to different operational preferences.

Prices for the Jeep Compass 4xe start at $61,990 for the Limited trim and $69,990 for the Summit trim, excluding on-road costs.

The models are covered by a five-year, 100,000km warranty, with the 4xe’s battery receiving an eight-year, 160,000km warranty.
