After almost three decades on sale in Australia, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has been discontinued locally.
As first reported by Drive, Stellantis – the parent company for Jeep any several other brands – has made the decision to axe the Grand Cherokee in Australia following a gradual decline in sales.
It’s been a gradual fall from grace over the past decade, with the Grand Cherokee crowned Australia’s best-selling Large SUV in 2014, with more than 16,500 sold that year.
Sales data from the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries (FCAI) shows the Grand Cherokee sold just 645 vehicles in 2024 – down more than 48 per cent compared to the previous year.

Between 2014 and 2024, sales dropped by more than 96 per cent.
“As we look to right-size the Jeep product portfolio to match local market dynamics and customer preferences, we’ve made the difficult decision to pause availability of the current model Jeep Grand Cherokee in Australia,” a spokesperson for Stellantis told CarSauce.

“While the Jeep Grand Cherokee will continue to be sold in many countries around the world, this decision allows us to focus our efforts on placing the right products in the right segments that can have the greatest relevance for our customers.”
Jeep offered the Grand Cherokee locally with two powertrains – a 3.6-litre V6 making 210kW and 344Nm, and a plug-in hybrid, producing a combined 280kW and 637Nm from its 2.0-litre turbo-petrol four-cylinder and dual electric motors, with 52 kilometres of electric range.

Jeep is currently offering the five-seater Grand Cherokee Limited for $60,000 drive-away – a significant discount from the four-wheel-drive’s original price tag of $83,950 before on-road costs.
“The Jeep brand remains fully committed to the Australian market and Stellantis continues to invest heavily in its global product portfolio,” the company spokesperson told CarSauce.
