The ever-popular Toyota RAV4 is still in short supply and overdemand, with Toyota speaking recently to Australian automotive media suggesting wait times have been reduced to 12-months for the popular RAV4 Hybrid.

However, work undertaken by Drive shows that wait times could be around 18 months - or ~50,000 orders - currently for those wanting the Hybrid variant of the RAV4.

In speaking to media at a recent event, Toyota suggested wait times could be as little as 6-months come mid-2024, which will likely be a welcomed relief for prospective Toyota RAV4 owners.

For 2024, prices have also risen by $1,710 across the range since the beginning of 2023.

The 2024 Toyota RAV4 range offers varied engine options. The 2WD models are powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, producing 127kW and 203Nm, linked to a continuously variable transmission. It has a claimed fuel economy of 6.5L/100km.

The 2WD Hybrid variants combine a 2.5-litre petrol engine with an electric motor, yielding a total output of 160kW. Adding all-wheel drive in the Hybrid models introduces an extra electric motor, increasing power to 163kW.

The 2WD Hybrid has a claimed fuel economy of 4.7L/100km, while the AWD Hybrid has a claimed fuel economy of 4.8L/100km due to the extra weight of the rear electric motor.

The Edge AWD petrol variant features a 2.5-litre engine with an eight-speed automatic transmission, delivering 152kW and 243Nm. This has a claimed fuel economy of 6.7L/100km.

When recently facelifted, the RAV4 recieved updated headlights with a slightly revised grille. The mid-spec XSE trim was also added.

Inside the 8" infotainment display was upgraded on most models to a 10.5" display. A 12.3" TFT instrument display was also added, with all USB-A ports (bar one) changed to USB-C ports.

A better reverse camera was also fitted, including some updated safety tech including expanded features of AEB (Autonomous Emergency Braking).
