Bridgestone Introduces New Dueler A/T 002 Tyres

Technical Insights and Development

Claudio Sodano, Bridgestone's sales director, provided key insights into the technical aspects and market positioning of the Dueler A/T 002. With extensive experience in tyre production and development, Sodano highlighted the importance of understanding consumer needs in creating the Dueler A/T 002.

Key features of the AT 002 include:

  • New Pattern Design: Large hexagonal blocks intended to enhance traction and grip across various surfaces.
  • High Silica Compound: This compound aims to improve wet handling, reduce rolling resistance, and minimize noise.
  • Optimized Groove Design: Designed to improve water evacuation and self-cleaning, enhancing both on-road and off-road performance.
  • Durability and Comfort: The tyre is designed to offer increased wear life and maintain comfort for on-road driving while retaining off-road capabilities.

Consumer Considerations

Sodano advises consumers to carefully consider their primary vehicle usewhether predominantly on-road or off-roadwhen selecting tyres. "Understanding the primary use of your vehicle is crucial in choosing the right type of tyre," he stated. He recommends thorough research into product performance and suggests looking for promotions to secure the best prices.

The Dueler A/T 002 is targeted at the replacement market, aiming to meet the needs of SUV owners who require a balance between off-road capability and on-road performance. "This tyre is designed to meet the demands of SUV owners who want off-road capability without sacrificing on-road performance," said Sodano.

Performance and Testing

We were recently invited to Noosa, QLD, where we had the opportunity to drive brand-new Isuzu D-Max's and MU-X's fitted with the new Dueler A/T 002 tyres on the beach. The driving experience included a variety of different soft and hard sandy conditions, and the tyres performed exceptionally well, showcasing their ability to handle diverse terrains with ease.

The Dueler AT 002 has been tested extensively, with results indicating significant advantages in wet braking, handling, and noise reduction compared to some competitors. These tests suggest that the tyre performs well in both on-road and off-road environments, offering a balance of comfort and durability.
