Foton Tunland Ute Returns to Australia

The Foton Tunland ute range will launch in Australia with two models, the V7 and the V9.

Announced at the Melbourne Motor Show over the weekend, Foton will re-enter the local ute market after a five-year hiatus.

Both Tunland utes are powered by a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine mated to a 48-volt mild-hybrid system, with the V7 available in two- or four-wheel drive, while the V9 will be exclusively 4WD.

Local specifications have yet to be fully announced, but overseas models offer 120kW and 450Nm from the turbo-diesel engine, with an eight-speed automatic transmission sending power to the wheels.

While both models have a towing capacity of up to 3500kg (braked), the V9 has coil-spring rear suspension for increased comfort.

Pricing has also not yet been announced, though interested parties are invited to register on the Foton Australia website.

Foton says the Tunland V-Series will arrive in Australia in the third quarter of 2025 (July to September inclusive).
