Honda Australia Unveils the Sixth Generation Civic Type R!

Honda has introduced the all-new 2023 Civic Type R, a high-performance vehicle that comes with several upgrades and enhancements. The new Type R features a range of new technologies, features, and enhancements that improve performance, handling, and safety.

Stronger Body and Sharper Handling

The all-new Civic Type R boasts an extensive use of high-strength steel that increases stiffness and reduces weight. The circular “frames” around the engine compartment strut towers and behind the rear seats improve floor strength, steering feel, precision, and front-rear rigidity. Additionally, the vehicle features a new lightweight resin hatch, a resin front bulkhead, and an aluminium hood that minimises weight gain.

The dual-axis strut front suspension, specially tuned Adaptive Damper System, and wider tires and wheels all contribute to sharper handling. The new forged wheels are wrapped in stickier 265/30 R19 Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires, and the steering feel and controllability are enhanced by the upgraded Electric Power Steering system. The new Civic Type R also comes with four available drive modes, including Comfort, Sport, +R, and a new Individual mode.

Integrated Advanced Aerodynamics

The all-new Civic Type R's exterior is sleek and sophisticated, with beautifully integrated advanced aerodynamics. The wider rear doors and fenders guide air around the rear wheels without fluctuations in pressure. The redesigned rear spoiler and a new rear diffuser intensify downforce and reduce drag. The bottom of the Type R’s windshield A-pillars have been pulled rearward to improve visibility and visually connect the pillars to the front wheel hub.

In-car Technology

The 2023 Civic Type R offers a compelling package of in-car technological features, which connects owners to their everyday lives. The simple-to-use 9-inch Advanced Display Audio touchscreen incorporates hard buttons and customisable shortcuts to use functions and audio sources more often. The Type R's new digital instrumentation display features clean, easy-to-read graphics and an extensive selection of displays. Additionally, the new enhanced version of the Honda LogR® 2.0 Data logger combines the Type R's onboard computer and sensors with a new built-in vehicle app to help drivers monitor and record a variety of parameters in real time.
