Lexus has announced the arrival of their new RZ 450e, an all-electric mid-size SUV, slated to hit showrooms in May. This vehicle marks the brand's second battery electric vehicle (BEV) and the first one based on a dedicated all-electric platform. The RZ 450e is part of Lexus' broader goal to offer only hybrid, PHEV, and BEV luxury vehicles in Australia by 2030.

Two RZ 450e models will be available: Luxury, with a starting price of $123,000, and Sports Luxury, starting at $135,000. Both models are powered by a 71.4 kWh lithium-ion battery, producing 230 kW of power and a driving range of 470 kilometers. The RZ 450e is expected to compete within the fully-electric, mid-size luxury SUV segment.

RZ 450e Rear

The SUV comes with an 11 kW on-board charger, which allows for a full recharge in approximately six-and-a-half hours when connected to a three-phase power supply. When connected to a DC fast-charging system, an 80% recharge can be completed in about 30 minutes.

Built on the e-TNGA platform, the RZ 450e features excellent body rigidity, a low center of gravity, and a long wheelbase. The vehicle employs an advanced electric e-Axle for both front and rear wheels, with each e-Axle consisting of its own motor, gearing, and Power Control Unit (PCU). The Lexus DIRECT4 all-wheel drive (AWD) system intelligently distributes torque to each e-Axle based on vehicle speed, steering angle, and g-forces.

RZ 450e Side 2 tone

The RZ 450e's exterior design evolves the signature Lexus spindle grille into a three-dimensional spindle body form. The interior offers a spacious and elegant atmosphere.

The RZ 450e Luxury model comes with 18-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, and an array of other features. The interior includes NuLuxe leather trim, heated front seats, a 14-inch multimedia display, and multiple connectivity options. Lexus Connected Services and Lexus Safety Sense+ are also standard.

RZ 450e Interior

The RZ 450e Sports Luxury model adds 20-inch alloy wheels, acoustic glass, dynamic auto-leveling headlights, a two-tone exterior paint option, and Ultrasuede interior trim, among other features. Additional comfort and convenience features exclusive to the Sports Luxury model include a head-up display, adaptive high beam system, and a 13-speaker Mark Levinson® Premium Audio system.

Lexus plans to offer complimentary home charging to all RZ 450e buyers through their Lexus Encore Electrified Platinum benefits, which also include Lexus On Demand and complimentary valet parking.

RZ 450e Rear Two-Tone

Further details about the RZ 450e's upcoming innovative steer-by-wire and yoke steering wheel with the Lexus One Motion Grip design will be provided closer to the system's introduction.
