MG Motor has announced that IM, a luxury electric vehicle brand, will debut in Australia at the Melbourne Motor Show on 5–6 April. The brand will launch locally as 'IM Presented by MG Motor' and will showcase two vehicles, the IM5 and IM6.

IM Motors is a joint venture between Chinese automaker SAIC Motor and Chinese technology companies, including Alibaba Group. The brand name stands for 'Intelligence in Motion' and focuses on electric vehicles with advanced technology and premium finishes.

The IM5 sedan and IM6 SUV are currently sold in China as the IM L6 and IM LS6, respectively. Australian launch dates for both models will be confirmed later in the year.
IM Motors joins MG’s growing EV portfolio, which includes the MG4, ZS EV, the Cyberster, and the MG S5 EV. In 2024, MG ranked as the second-best-selling EV brand in Australia.

IM vehicles will be available through MG dealerships nationwide as part of the brand’s expansion into the luxury EV segment. The Melbourne Motor Show appearance marks the first public showing of IM vehicles in Australia.
