Sales of Tesla electric vehicles in Australia have taken a nosedive in recent months, following a similar trend worldwide.

The trend appears to be global, with Tesla sales dropping across Europe.

According to news outlet Reuters, Tesla sales have almost halved in Sweden, Denmark, Norway, and France, while Bloomberg reports Tesla sales in Germany are at their west monthly total since July 2021.
This is despite demand for brand-new electric cars growing by 34 per cent in the European market, The Guardian reports.
Protesters have been staging demonstrations at Tesla dealerships in the US following CEO Elon Musk’s close association with US President Donald Trump.

Owners in the US have also reported their vehicles being vandalised in recent months, creating a market for stickers that denounce Musk – while images have appeared online of Tesla owners disguising their cars by fitting badges from Audi, Honda, Mazda, and Toyota.
Last month, singer Sheryl Crow posted a video on social media of her Tesla being towed away after selling the vehicle – with the proceeds being donated to NPR (National Public Radio).
Tesla stock is also down 25 per cent year-to-date, dropping 13 per cent in the past five years alone – however, shares in the electric-car company are up 507 per cent over a year-year period.
