2026 Chery C5 Hybrid Price and Specs: New Hybrid SUV From $31,990 Drive-Away
Chery Australia has added Hybrid Urban and Ultimate variants to the C5 SUV range, priced from $31,990 drive-away with 4.9L/100km claimed fuel use.
Chery Australia has expanded the C5 lineup with a new hybrid powertrain, priced from $31,990 drive-away.
The 2026 Chery C5 Hybrid will be offered in two variants, with the Urban opening the range and the Ultimate priced from $34,990 drive-away.
The hybrid joins the existing petrol C5 variants and sits below the all-electric E5 in Chery’s local passenger vehicle range.
CarSauce previously covered the model’s transition from Omoda 5 branding to Chery C5, with the latest update adding electrified petrol power to the nameplate.
The C5 Hybrid uses a series-parallel hybrid system combining a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine with a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor.
Combined outputs are listed at 165kW and 295Nm, sent to the front wheels through a single-speed dedicated hybrid transmission.
Chery claims fuel use of 4.9L/100km on the combined cycle, with CO2 emissions rated at 111g/km.
The C5 Hybrid also gives Chery another hybrid SUV line alongside the 2026 Chery Tiggo 4 Hybrid, while the wider segment includes hybrid-focused models such as the 2026 Toyota Corolla Cross.
Lucas Harris, Chief Operating Officer, Chery Australia, said the new variant is aimed at buyers not ready to move fully into an electric vehicle.
“There’s no secret demand for New Energy Vehicles (NEV) is growing within the Australian market and Chery aims to meet these requirements by offering customers the best of both worlds,” said Harris.
“The C5 Hybrid is the ideal car for people who aren’t ready to jump completely into the EV space and still want the convenience of a petrol-powered vehicle.”
