Its largest facility is in Melbourne's west and is operated in partnership with SF Express, described as the fourth-largest logistics company in the world and the largest in the Asia-Pacific region.

BYD parts occupy 15,000 square metres at the SF Express complex, with stock covering servicing and repair items, special tools and other workshop components.

The Melbourne site is staffed by a team of 40 and forms part of a wider warehouse network with distribution nodes in Perth, Sydney and Brisbane.

BYD’s Australian range currently comprises the Dolphin, Seal, Seal 6, Atto 1, Atto 2, Atto 3, Shark 6, Sealion 5, Sealion 6, Sealion 7 and Sealion 8, with the M9 people mover to follow.

BYD says around 95 per cent of all BYD and DENZA vehicle parts across their respective line-ups are stocked in Australia.

That allows delivery to local dealers within 24 hours, most interstate dealers in two to three days, and dealers on the other side of the country or in outer rural areas in around one week.

The investment comes as parts availability remains a point of concern for EV ownership, with some analysts putting critical-parts wait times at six to eight weeks and beyond.

"Our commitment to Australian customers doesn't end at the handover.
It starts there," said Stephen Collins, Chief Operating Officer, BYD Australia.

"Having more than 580,000 parts available locally means we can support every BYD owner, when they need it, wherever they are in Australia."

BYD Australia's dealer network now spans more than 120 locations nationally and is expected to reach more than 150 dealerships by the end of 2026.

The company has framed the warehouse investment as part of its wider push to build service and support capacity around its growing new energy vehicle customer base in Australia.
