The SUV produces a combined 1,197hp, accelerates from 0-100km/h in 3.6 seconds, can rotate 360 degrees on the spot, and has an emergency flotation capability designed for use during emergencies and flooding.
Brigadier Saeed Al Hajri, Director of the General Department of Criminal Investigation at Dubai Police, officially unveiled the new patrol and welcomed the continued cooperation with Al-Futtaim Automotive Group.
Brigadier Al Hajri said the vehicle will help strengthen police visibility and engagement at locations including Burj Khalifa, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard and Jumeirah Beach Residence.
The Yangwang U8 will also act as a point of contact between officers and the public, allowing tourists and residents to seek assistance, obtain information and learn more about Dubai Police community services.
Brigadier Al Hajri said the addition reflects Dubai Police’s commitment to modernising its fleet through advanced automotive technologies and environmentally friendly mobility solutions.
The unveiling was attended by Brigadier Ali Mohammad Faraj Al Muhairi, Pilot Instructor and Director of the General Department of Transport and Rescue; Colonel Mohammad Abdulrahman Abdulwahid, Director of the Tourist Police Department; and Colonel Anwar Al Nimer, Director of the Force Vehicles Department.
Yousuf Raisi, Director of Government Affairs and Health, Safety, Security and Environment at Al-Futtaim Automotive Group in the UAE, also attended alongside Dubai Police officers.
Australian status
The Yangwang U8 has been approved for sale in Australia, though BYD has not formally confirmed local launch timing or pricing.
In China, the Yangwang U8 is priced from CNY 1,008,000, or about A$216,000. BYD has not confirmed Australian pricing.
That would position the Yangwang U8 around high-end luxury off-road SUVs such as the Mercedes-Benz G-Class and the Range Rover.
The U8 would sit well above BYD’s mainstream Australian passenger-car range, which CarSauce recently covered through updates including BYD’s local parts and warehouse network.
| Vehicle | Australian status or context | Price or estimate | Key figure |
