Kia PV7 Electric Van Confirmed For Australia In Q4 2027

Kia Australia has confirmed the new Kia PV7 electric van will launch locally in the fourth quarter of 2027.

The PV7 is the second model in Kia's dedicated all-electric Platform Beyond Vehicle lineup, following the PV5.

Kia unveiled the PV7 at IAA Transportation 2026 in Hannover, Germany, ahead of launches in Korea and Europe in the second half of 2027.

Australian trim variants, features and pricing will be announced closer to launch.

Kia Australia says the PV7 will undergo its local Ride and Handling program to suit Australian roads and conditions.

The PV7 will join Kia's future local product pipeline after models such as the Seltos hybrid, which has been confirmed for Australia from Q4 2026.

The PV7 will be offered in Cargo and Passenger forms, with Kia positioning the larger electric van for fleet, logistics, shuttle, small-business and passenger-transport use.

It is built on Kia's PBV-dedicated E-GMP.S architecture, using a flat-floor layout and Flexible Body System to support different body styles, derivatives and conversion models.

Kia plans to expand the PV7 lineup to 23 variants after launch, with the larger PV9 due to follow in 2029.

"By bringing together hardware developed for specific applications, business-tailored software and dedicated PBV services, the PV7 goes beyond the vehicle itself to deliver a complete business solution that helps customers achieve greater productivity, flexibility and long-term value."

Preliminary Kia PV7 specifications

The PV7 will be available with 71.5kWh and 96.2kWh nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) battery packs.

Depending on market and configuration, the front-wheel-drive electric powertrain delivers up to 200kW and 420Nm.

An all-wheel-drive variant is planned as a future addition.

The Long Range Cargo variant offers more than 460km of all-electric range on the WLTP cycle.

Kia says the PV7's 800V architecture enables 10-to-80 per cent DC fast charging in the mid-20-minute range when using a 350kW charger.

Vehicle-to-Load functionality allows the PV7 to power tools, equipment and other devices through interior and exterior outlets.

The PV7 Cargo is aimed at logistics, delivery, fleet and small- to medium-business operators.

Globally, it will be offered in two- and three-seat configurations.

The Cargo Long offers up to 6.1 cubic metres of cargo space under the VDA standard, while the Cargo High Roof offers up to 8.0 cubic metres.

Maximum payload is rated at 1165kg for the Long and 1200kg for the Compact.

The Cargo Long has a 550mm loading height and can carry up to three Euro pallets measuring 800mm by 1200mm.

Cargo-focused features include a dedicated heavy-load driving mode, cargo-door status monitoring, independent cargo-door lock and unlock functionality, and a choice of full-open twin-swing tailgate or conventional lift-up tailgate.

The PV7 Passenger is designed for crew transport, shuttle and rental services, tourism and family use.

The seven-seat model uses Long-Rail Easy Remove Seats, while the nine-seat model is available with or without a fourth row.

Rear climate control is included, with available features including 100W USB-C charging ports and additional storage solutions.

Both PV7 variants feature Pleos Connect, based on Android Automotive OS, with connected navigation, flexible screen layouts, an app marketplace and over-the-air updates.

The system incorporates Gleo AI, an AI-powered voice assistant for vehicle, navigation and messaging functions.

Safety equipment includes seven airbags, with a roof-mounted front passenger airbag.

Pedal Misapplication Safety Assist 2.0 is designed to help reduce the risk of unintended acceleration from incorrect pedal use.

Available driver-assistance features include Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Lane Keeping Assist 2.0, Navigation-based Smart Cruise Control, Highway Driving Assist 2.0, Remote Smart Parking Assist, Rear View Monitor and Surround View Monitor.
