Subaru Trailseeker EV Gets Spare Wheel Option After Initial Criticism

Subaru Australia has added a new underfloor spare wheel kit for the all-new Subaru Trailseeker EV, following criticism of the electric wagon’s launch specification.

The Trailseeker arrived with a puncture repair kit rather than a spare wheel, despite being pitched as an adventure-focused electric SUV with Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, X-Mode and 211mm of ground clearance.

CarSauce called that out in our Subaru Trailseeker AWD Touring review, where we listed “no spare wheel, despite the adventure pitch” as a key con and said the omission felt like a “proper own goal” for a car aimed at trails, dirt roads and weekends away.

Subaru has now opened pre-orders for a space-saver spare wheel kit priced at $1,145, packaged beneath the cargo floor.
It can be fitted to new customer orders and Trailseeker vehicles already on the road through Subaru retailers.

A Genuine Subaru Australia towbar accessory has also been added for the Trailseeker, priced at $1,189.59 and giving the EV a 1500kg braked towing capacity and 750kg unbraked towing capacity.

Fitment for both accessories is scheduled before Christmas 2026.

The new accessories do not change the Trailseeker’s core electric drivetrain specifications.

The Trailseeker uses a 280kW dual-motor electric powertrain and is capable of accelerating from 0-100km/h in approximately 4.5 seconds.

Subaru lists driving range at up to 533km, while the Trailseeker also features Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, X-Mode and 211mm of ground clearance.
