Suzuki Australia has released a set of deliberately unclear images showing what appears to be a yellow Suzuki Jimny, fuelling expectations of a possible Jimny Rhino variant for the local market.

The images were described as having been captured by an unknown photographer and posted online, with Suzuki framing the vehicle as a rumoured “Yellow Rhino”.

While the tone of the material is clearly designed to build interest, Suzuki has not yet confirmed the name, specifications, pricing, launch timing or whether the model will be limited-run.

The only firm local detail is that the images show a yellow Jimny with a rhino decal on the side, with Suzuki acknowledging interest from the Australian Jimny community but stopping short of a full announcement.

What Suzuki has said so far

Suzuki also invited enthusiasts to continue sharing ‘suspected sightings’, reinforcing the teaser-style nature of the campaign rather than providing technical detail.

“We'd obviously love to announce a completely new Jimny, particularly one that, if the reports are accurate, seems to be the perfect manifestation of the shared spirit of two magnificent beasts: Jimnys and rhinos.
But we can’t confirm anything at this stage,” Mr Pachota said.

Taken at face value, the comments do not confirm a new variant, though this is clearly a marketing ploy by Suzuki to build hype for this upcoming Jimny variant.

The Rhino name is not new to the Jimny overseas.

In markets such as South Africa, Jimny Rhino versions have previously centred on exterior and accessory changes rather than a confirmed mechanical overhaul.

Those overseas examples have included items such as Rhino-themed decals, a branded spare wheel cover, grille changes, red mud flaps, wind deflectors, bumper garnishes and differential guards.

That provides a useful guide to what an Australian Jimny Rhino could be, but it should not be treated as a confirmed local specification.

Suzuki has not said whether any Australian version would mirror the South African package, use a different equipment list, or bring changes beyond styling and accessories.

It has also not confirmed whether a possible Jimny Rhino would be based on the three-door Jimny, the five-door Jimny XL, or both.
