Skoda has expanded its Karoq SUV range with a new entry-level variant, joining the existing Style and Sportline models. Priced at $39,990, both as a recommended retail price and drive-away cost, this new variant positions itself in the competitive medium SUV market alongside models like the Kia Sportage S, Hyundai Tucson, and Mazda CX-5 Maxx.
The entry-level Skoda Karoq features a 1.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, producing 110kW of power and 250Nm of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The manufacturer claims a combined cycle fuel consumption of 6.5 litres per 100km for this model.
In terms of features, the new Karoq variant includes 18-inch alloy wheels, keyless start, power-folding heated door mirrors, and safety features such as adaptive cruise control, Lane Assist, and Front Assist with pedestrian and cyclist detection. The interior offers an 8-inch digital driver display and an 8-inch Bolero infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.
The Karoq range also includes the higher-end Style and SportLine variants. The Karoq Style, with a drive-away price starting from $45,490, adds features like a hands-free power tailgate and a larger digital instrument cluster. The SportLine variant, priced from $52,490 drive-away, is equipped with a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine and a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, along with all-wheel drive.
Skoda's new Karoq comes with a seven-year, unlimited kilometre warranty and a seven-year capped price servicing offer. These offerings are part of Skoda's strategy to appeal to customers interested in long-term value and ownership costs.
