2025 Mercedes-Benz G580 EQ Price and Specs

The 2025 Mercedes-Benz G580 with EQ Technology has arrived in Australia, with the electric G-Wagen priced from $249,900 before on-road costs – making it almost $120,000 cheaper than its V8-powered sibling.

While the AMG G63 puts out 430kW and 850Nm from its 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8, the quad-motor G580 EQ produces a 432kW and 1164Nm – fed from a 116kWh lithium-ion battery.

As reported by CarSauce earlier this month, Mercedes-Benz claims the G580 EQ as having a driving range of 567 kilometres – however, this is based on the more lenient and outdated NEDC test.

In Europe, where the more accurate WLTP test replaced NEDC back in 2017, the G580 EQ is advertised as having a driving range of 473 kilometres – almost 17 per cent less.

The G580 EQ has been designed to work as an off-roader, and comes with a three-speed crawl function with low-speed cruise control, simulated differential locks, 26mm of underbody protection, and G-Turn – allowing the vehicle to turn 360-degrees on the spot.

The G-Wagen’s transparent bonnet feature also allows the driver to see the location of the track directly under the front of the vehicle.

Inside, the double-wide screen incorporates a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a matching infotainment hub running the carmaker’s latest MBUX operating system, running through a Burmester 3D surround sound system.

There are also wireless smartphone chargers, power front seats with memory, and keyless entry and start.

For $299,000 before on-road costs, buyers can opt for the Edition One, which comes with a unique interior in nappa leather, exterior highlights in blue, and the option of five different paint colours.

As previously reported, the electric G580 has been certified with a gross vehicle mass (GVM) of 3500kg, yet has a tare mass of 3090kg – meaning owners have just 410kg of available payload including passengers and fuel.

The 2025 Mercedes-Benz G580 with EQ Technology comes with a five-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty, with an eight-year/160,000km battery warranty.
