The 2026 Mercedes-Benz CLA sedan has been revealed to the world, with an electric model launching initially in the second half of 2026, and a small petrol engine with mild-hybrid technology to follow.
Despite being the entry-level compact model of the extensive Mercedes-Benz range, the German luxury carmaker has increased the dimensions of the coupe-styled CLA, making it longer, wider, and taller than its predecessor – while also being one of the most aerodynamic production vehicles ever made.

Two electric variants will be offered to begin with – both powered by an 85kWh battery – with either rear- or all-wheel drive.
The CLA250+ with EQ Technology uses a 200kW/335Nm electric motor on the rear axle, allowing for a claimed 0-100km/h time of 6.7 seconds, and with a driving range of up to 792 kilometres (WLTP).

The CLA350 4Matic with EQ Technology uses dual electric motors for a combined power output of 260kW and 515Nm, dropping the claimed sprint time to 4.9 seconds, and a best-case driving range of 771 kilometres (WLTP).
Underpinned by the company’s 800-volt MMA platform, the electric CLA models can accept up to 320kW of DC fast charging, with up to 315 kilometres of range added to the CLA350 EQ with 10 minutes of charging – or up to 325km in the CLA250 EQ.

Mercedes-Benz says another electric variant will be added at a later date, with a smaller 58kWh battery.
Petrol-powered CLA models will get a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine, mated with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system, driving the front wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission – with full specifications to be announced closer to launch.

Stepping inside, the dashboard is now a full-width screen, made up of a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14-inch central infotainment touchscreen, and an optional 14-inch touchscreen for the passenger.
A panel with a star pattern graphic will replace the screen if the passenger’s entertainment hub isn’t optioned.

Standard equipment includes electric comfort front seats with synthetic leather and fabric with heating, single-zone climate control, and a panoramic fixed glass roof with heat-insulating film.
Australian pricing and specifications for the 2026 Mercedes-Benz CLA will be announced closer to the model’s local launch in the second half of 2026.
