2025 Nissan Patrol: New 'Y63' Off-Roader to Debut in September

Nissan will unveil the next-generation Y63 Patrol off-road SUV on September 4, 2024. Weekly teaser images in August will precede the reveal.

The first teaser highlights a new 'V-Motion' grille, similar to other Nissan models, with a honeycomb lower section. This grille evolves from the current Y62 Patrol's design, introduced in 2010 and updated in 2019.

Replacing the current petrol V8, the Y63 Patrol will feature a more fuel-efficient twin-turbo petrol V6, offering increased power. The launch is scheduled for the Middle East and the United States, where it is known as the Armada, by the end of March 2025.

The arrival of the new Patrol in Australia remains uncertain, potentially taking several years as with the Y62 model. The Patrol will share its body shell with the Infiniti QX80 but will have distinct front and rear designs, a reprofiled side window line, and traditional door handles.

Inside, the Y63 is expected to have larger screens, including a digital instrument cluster and factory-fitted Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Enhanced active safety features will also be part of the new model.

The Y63 Patrol will replace the 298kW/560Nm 5.6-liter naturally-aspirated petrol V8 with a 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged petrol V6. In the Infiniti QX80, this engine produces 336kW and 698Nm, paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission, replacing the previous seven-speed unit.

The new Patrol is expected to maintain a 3500-kilogram braked towing capacity and will use an updated version of the current F-Alpha ladder-frame chassis for increased torsional rigidity.

Should Chinese Cars Be Banned in Australia?

Banning Chinese cars in Australia makes no sense. With no local car industry to protect, tariffs would only hurt consumers and limit choice.
