The Best New-Car Warranties in Australia Revealed

The Best New-Car Warranties in Australia Revealed

It wasn’t all that long ago when cars had to be warmed up before driving, with jumper cables and spare hoses and belts kept in the boot just in case the car left the owner stranded on the side of the road.

While many drivers still remember those times, nowadays cars are considerably more reliable, often providing their owners with years of trouble-free motoring.

But on those rare occasions when something does need to be fixed, how long after purchase is a faulty part covered by the carmaker?

New-car warranties not only provide coverage for faulty parts and engine failures, but they also give peace of mind to owners – while adding value, with the warranty transferred to the second owner, assuming the terms and conditions have been met.

While warranties of three-years/100,000km (whichever comes first) were the standard for several decades, now it’s not uncommon to find warranties with more than five years – with some even extending out to 10 years – while many have removed mileage limitations in some cases.

However, there are almost always limitations. Often these relate to ‘commercial usage’ – which includes ride-share drivers, couriers, and tradies – and modifications, which aren’t covered under the warranty.

The warranty will also rely on the owner keeping the vehicle up-to-date with its servicing schedule.

For those looking to get the best coverage on their next purchase, here are the car manufacturers offering the best factory-backed warranties of more than five years.

Note: Terms and conditions apply to the following warranties, roadside assistance packages, and fixed-price servicing offers. Please refer to each manufacturer for more details.
