Polestar 4 SUV Confirmed As More Practical Electric Wagon Variant
Polestar has confirmed the new Polestar 4 SUV, a more practical variant of its electric fastback, with sales due to start from 2 September.
Polestar has confirmed the new Polestar 4 SUV, adding a more practical second body style to the electric model line after recent rumours and spy images pointed to a wagon-like rear end.
The new variant is due to go on sale from 2 September 2026, joining the existing Polestar 4 Coupé in the brand’s global line-up.
Polestar has shown a single teaser image of the SUV’s rear, confirming a more upright tailgate treatment compared with the coupé-style model.
The SUV follows the recent Australian confirmation of the Polestar 4 Coupé name, which helped separate the existing fastback from the incoming variant.
Polestar says the new SUV keeps the Polestar 4’s 400V electrical architecture, with Rear motor variants offering up to 630km of WLTP range.
Dual motor variants will produce up to 544 hp (406kW).
Both the Polestar 4 SUV and latest Polestar 4 Coupé also receive retuned chassis components, with Polestar saying the changes are aimed at strengthening the models’ driving dynamics.
The company has positioned the SUV as the more versatile Polestar 4, citing added storage flexibility and greater practicality compared with the coupé body style.
Michael Lohscheller, Polestar CEO, said: “Polestar 4 has quickly established itself as a favourite among our customers, and we've seen strong demand from drivers who want distinctive design and performance combined with great practicality.
With Polestar 4 SUV, we're building on that success by offering even more versatility, while staying true to the Polestar 4 character.
Wrapped in a stunning design, this is a car I've been looking forward to sharing with the world.”
