The MY27 Chery Tiggo 4 facelift will become the first Tiggo 4 locally tuned for Australian suspension and ADAS preferences, a spokesperson for the brand told CarSauce.

The updated model will also bring a more powerful, turbocharged hybrid powertrain, a quicker 0-100km/h time, revised front fascia and updated interior.

The Chery spokesperson told CarSauce that Chinese buyers prefer a more comfort-oriented tune, while Australians want a sportier tune.

The spokesperson said the same preference applies in Europe and South Africa, and that Australia led the push for the Tiggo 4 changes “because we sell well”.

It marks a shift in emphasis after Chery Australia Chief Operating Officer Lucas Harris previously said the brand did not need to tune its cars in Australia to achieve a better result.

Chery has previously carried out local ADAS recalibration work on other models, including the Omoda 5 after criticism and the Tiggo 7 PHEV.

The Tiggo 4-specific work extends that approach to Chery’s best-selling local model, with the Tiggo 4 the best-selling small SUV in Australia so far in 2026.

Hybrid powertrain and pricing

The facelifted Tiggo 4 Hybrid moves to a turbocharged 1.5-litre hybrid system producing 165kW combined, meaning it now matches the powertrain of its platform sibling - the Jaecoo J5 HEV.

Drive remains front-wheel drive.

According to Chery, the 0-100km/h time drops to 7.9 seconds, one full second quicker than the outgoing non-turbo hybrid, according to Chery.

Fuel economy reportedly remains the same as before, meaning a claimed 5.4L/100km on the NEDC cycle.

The currently on-sale Tiggo 4 Hybrid combines a 71kW and 118Nm naturally aspirated 1.5-litre engine with an electric motor for 150kW and 310Nm combined.

The current petrol Tiggo 4 uses a turbocharged 1.5-litre four-cylinder making 108kW and 210Nm.

Pricing for the facelifted range has not been confirmed.

The Tiggo 4 range starts from $23,990 drive-away, and the current hybrid is priced at $29,990 drive-away for the Urban and $34,990 drive-away for the Ultimate.

At 165kW, the facelifted Tiggo 4 Hybrid would be one of the most powerful cheap hybrid small SUVs, sitting against rivals including the 2026 GWM Haval Jolion Hybrid and 2026 MG ZS Hybrid.

The Tiggo 4 update comes as Chery continues to broaden its Australian activity, including recent E5 updates and further model launches.

The facelift will be the second styling change since the Tiggo 4 arrived in Australia nearly two years ago.

The previous update introduced a new rear end with a full-width LED tail-light bar and dropped the Pro name.

The updated model’s exterior change is led by a new front grille.

The current Tiggo 4 is covered by a seven-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty, seven years of capped-price servicing and up to seven years of roadside assistance.
