The all-new Hyundai Tucson has been revealed, with an Australian launch due in mid-2027 as a hybrid-only SUV range.
Hyundai has revealed the all-new Tucson, with the fifth-generation SUV confirmed for an Australian launch in mid-2027 as a hybrid-only range.
The new Tucson made its global debut in New York and introduces a larger body, a redesigned cabin, Hyundai’s Pleos Connect infotainment system and a new-generation hybrid system.

Australia will receive the long-wheelbase version of the Tucson, rather than the short-wheelbase body used for Europe.
The local line-up will also include the Tucson XRT, while the more off-road-focused XRT PRO is limited to North America.
It follows the local introduction of hybrid power in the current Tucson, with the next model moving to a hybrid-only Australian range.
"Millions of families around the world count on the Hyundai TUCSON, and this is the best one we have ever built," said José Muñoz, President and CEO, Hyundai Motor Company.
"Its combination of bold design, generous cabin space, seamless infotainment, and available hybrid efficiency sets a new standard for what customers should expect in this segment.
TUCSON opens the most ambitious product offensive in our history, including more than 100 new and refreshed vehicles globally by 2030."
What changes on the new Tucson?
The all-new Tucson adopts Hyundai’s latest "Art of Steel" design language, with pronounced guards, cleaner door surfacing and a more upright SUV stance.
In long-wheelbase form, the new Tucson measures 4700mm long, 1905mm wide and 1685mm tall, making it 60mm longer, 40mm wider and 20mm taller than the previous model.
The wheelbase has increased by 30mm to 2785mm.
Standard ground clearance is listed at 180mm, while the North America-only XRT PRO has 210mm of ground clearance.
Hyundai has also increased the door opening angle from 73 degrees to 83 degrees.
Lighting changes include H-Edge front lighting, Prism rear lamps and available Micro Pixel Lighting using 25,600 individual LED pixels.
New exterior colours include Ranger Green Pearl or Matte, Kodiak Blue Pearl, Driftwood Grey Metallic or Matte, and Red Rock Orange Pearl or Matte.
Inside, the Tucson moves to a two-layer dashboard with a horizontal upper section, a deep open storage tray and tactile controls for functions such as climate and audio.
The cabin includes a Double D-Cut steering wheel, a 9.9-inch slim driver display and either a 17-inch or 12.9-inch main touchscreen through the Pleos Connect infotainment system.
Pleos Connect is based on Android Automotive OS and includes Gleo AI, three-finger gesture controls, an app marketplace and over-the-air update capability.
Available cabin features include dual 15W wireless phone chargers, 100W USB-C charging, three-zone climate control, an Ergo Motion Seat and a Relaxation Comfort Seat with one-button recline.
Hyundai lists front headroom at 1036mm, rear legroom at 1064mm and front shoulder room at 1470mm for the long-wheelbase Tucson.
Globally, Hyundai has detailed petrol, hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions of the new Tucson, but the Australian launch is hybrid-only.
The hybrid system pairs a 1.6-litre turbo-petrol engine with electric assistance and a six-speed automatic transmission.
For the US market, combined hybrid output is listed at 233hp (171kW), while Korean-market combined output spans 236ps (173kW) to 245ps (180kW).
The hybrid also introduces E-Traction, which adjusts driving torque to reduce wheel slip during cornering.
HEV Stay Mode can run air conditioning, heating, audio and device charging while the engine is off.
The plug-in hybrid version revealed globally uses a 1.6-litre turbo-petrol engine and plug-in hybrid system producing 292ps (214kW), with an estimated 81km of electric driving range and a 7.2kW onboard charger.
Hyundai’s XRT grade brings tougher exterior trim, wider lower cladding, black wheel-arch cladding and skid-plate-style design elements.
The XRT PRO adds all-wheel drive, all-terrain tyres, front recovery hooks, increased ground clearance and additional off-road technology, but it is not part of the Australian plan.
New off-road assistance technology includes Smart Terrain Assist, which assesses traction and slip conditions and displays a green, orange or red stuck score.
Other available systems include Target Speed Control for low-speed off-road driving from 2km/h to 25km/h, Memory Reversing Assist, Ground View Monitor and Trailer Reverse Assist.
Safety and driver assistance technology listed for the new Tucson includes an In-Cabin Monitoring Unit, Child Presence Detection, Rear Occupant Alert, Intelligent Speed Limit Assist and Navigation-Linked Smart Cruise Control.
Hyundai says the Tucson has recorded more than 11.1 million cumulative global sales since its 2004 debut.
Further Australian details, including local pricing, variant structure and final equipment levels, are expected closer to the mid-2027 launch.
