NISMO has opened its first Performance Centre outside Japan, with the new site now operating from Ferntree Gully Nissan in Victoria.

Nissan enthusiasts and GT-R fans gathered at the dealership on Sunday for the official opening of NISMO Performance Centre Melbourne.

The opening marks the first step in a multi-phase Australian expansion announced in May by Nissan Motorsports & Customizing Co., Ltd. and Nissan Oceania.

A phased rollout will see additional NISMO Performance Centres open in Australia from 2027.

The Ferntree Gully site establishes a direct link between Australian customers and NISMO’s Omori Factory in Japan.

It will support advanced vehicle restoration programs, provide access to authentic NISMO performance and heritage parts, and feature factory-certified NISMO Meisters backed by NISMO’s global expertise.

The opening adds another Nissan-focused development for Australia, alongside recent local detail on the Y63 Patrol.

What the NISMO centre will offer

Yutaka Sanada, Global Head of the NISMO brand, joined the opening through a recorded message and said: "The opening of the first NISMO Performance Centre outside Japan is an important milestone in our global expansion."

Michael Banjanin, Dealer Principal, Ferntree Gully Nissan, said the opening was a natural extension of the dealership’s connection with Nissan performance.

NISMO announced plans in December 2025 to significantly expand its global restoration, restomod and parts businesses, initially focusing on the Nissan Skyline GT-R R32, R33 and R34.

The Australian program is intended to broaden local access to NISMO performance parts and accessories, heritage support, technical expertise, restoration and customer experiences.

Further details on additional Australian Performance Centres and other elements of the local NISMO program will be announced in due course.
