Australian sales begin from 29 October 2026, with the MGU9 EV arriving at MG dealerships nationwide.

Australia is the first market globally to launch the MGU9 EV.
Key figures include up to 430km of WLTP driving range and a 3500kg braked towing capacity.

The ute also has a 236-litre front boot, tub storage and vehicle-to-load capability for powering compatible equipment away from mains electricity.
In the electrified ute field, the 2026 BYD Shark 6 Performance is a plug-in hybrid rather than a battery-electric ute, with an AWD 2.0-litre hybrid turbo powertrain producing 350kW and 700Nm.
The BYD also lists a 3500kg braked towing capacity, an 80km electric-only driving range and a 640km combined driving distance.

Optional Thule accessories will be offered for the MGU9 EV, including roof boxes, cargo bags, bike carriers, kayak carriers, roof racks, a rooftop tent and an awning.
